THE BUILD

This exceptional home, a collaborative masterpiece by Keith Vandyke and award-winning building designer Chris Vandyke, stands as a testament to artistry and craftsmanship. Comprising 5 interconnected single and double-story pavilions, the residence is strategically positioned to capture breathtaking views of Stradbroke Island from its elevated location.

The build

This residence was a collaborative effort between Keith’s father, the highly acclaimed building designer Chris Vandyke, responsible for the design, and Keith himself overseeing the construction.

Nestled in a commanding position overlooking Stradbroke Island, the home boasts five interconnected pavilions, seamlessly blending single and double-story layouts to maximise the breathtaking views.

Each of the five pavilions showcases meticulously selected hardwood roofing, with exposed internal roof structures adding a touch of architectural elegance. A standout feature is the helix stair, skillfully formed and poured with travertine treads and risers.

One of the most cherished aspects of this home is its cellar, crafted from timber recycled from a century-old banana packing shed once situated on the property. To achieve the desired aged aesthetic, an artist was enlisted to hand-paint imperfections onto the undulating rendered walls, adding character and charm to the interior.
